How To Create Coupon Codes in WooCommerce

Coupon codes are a great way to offer your customers a discount or perhaps even free shipping. Here’s a quick tutorial which will get you up and running in just a few minutes:

How to create coupon codes in WooCommerce

First, navigate to the coupon code section in your dashboard as follows…
WooCommerce – Coupons

Select the GENERAL Tab on the left

  • Add coupon (top left)
  • Enter coupon name
  • Enter coupon description

Enter discount type. Here are the selections and a brief description:

  • Cart discount – discount $ amount to be applied to cart total
  • Cart % discount – discount % to be applied to cart total
  • Product discount – discount $ amount for a certain product only
  • Product % discount – discount % amount for a certain product onli
  • Enter coupon amount – for example 10 or 20
  • Free Shipping – to use this function, free shipping must be enabled in your WooCommerce setting
  • Expiration date – date coupon will expire

Select the USAGE RESTRICTIONS Tab on the left

    • Minimum spend – enter the minimum amount needed in shopping cart before coupon can be applied
    • Maximum spend – enter maximum subtotal allowed in cart that can be applied to coupon (useful if you are doing a % discount)
    • Individual use – can this coupon be used with other promotions on not?
    • Products – enter any products that MUST be in cart for coupon to apply

Exclude products – enter any products for which coupon does not apply

  • Product categories – enter any categories that product must belong to for coupon to apply
  • Exclude categories – enter any categories that are excluded from discount

 

Email restrictions – enter an email address here if you want it to be checked against email customer enters with billing address. You really only need to use this category if you want the coupon to specifically be used by one person only and want to have a check in place to make sure it’s them

Select the USAGE LIMITS Tab on the left

    • Usage limit per coupon – how many times can the coupon be used in total before it becomes void

Usage limit per user – how many times can an individual use this coupon

Hit PUBLISH and you’re all set. You’re now ready to start accepting your new Woocommerce Coupons
